Can Eating Beef Help You Lose Weight?

Sunday, November 7, 2010

Have you heard about eating beef will also help you loose your weight? This was the newsletter I received from iVillage.com. I was then interested to read the whole article. I thought it would be nice if I will share it to you also. So, here’s the full information about eating beef.

If you crave red meat but have given it up to drop a few pounds, you may want to reconsider the beef. But not just any kind of beef—the organic, grass-fed variety. Though regular industrial cows are usually fed grain, which gives their meat a high ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, grass-fed beef skews higher toward the omega-3s—which is great news for you! Omega-3s can help reduce inflammation in the body and lower your risk of cardiovascular disease, among other health benefits.

But that's not all beef has to offer. It's also a fantastic source of protein, which will help keep you satisfied, and it's a great source of vitamins B6 and B12, which can help reduce risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as lower your risk of colon cancer. Plus, grass-fed beef contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which may help reduce belly fat.

So go ahead—give lean, grass-fed beef a go. Just make sure you also prepare it healthfully by grilling or sauteing and serving with a side of veggies.
